Katie + Matt’s Fair Park Wedding

Posted by: meaghan_thumb3_thumb[1]

We were so honored to be a part of this sweet wedding earlier this year! We have had the great pleasure of working with the bride Katie in the past, she is an awesome florist with DiFiori! We knew immediately all of the décor would be fab and definitely wanted to help so that they were able to enjoy their day to the fullest! The Ceremony took place at Gardens in Fair Park, and then the reception took place at The Texas Museum of Automotive History!

Bridesmaid Dresses: What’s Hot

Posted by: image

As I browse my Facebook news feed, I can see that love is in the air! Between the plethora of weddings and engagements, it’s hard NOT to get drawn in to “wedding mode”. And it looks like The Today Show caught the bug, too!

A few weeks ago, they featured a great segment highlighting bridesmaids dress trends for 2012. Their tips inspired me to put my scavenger-hunting skills to the test and find YOU the perfect ensemble – and fingers crossed, it would be something your favorite ladies would want to wear again (at least that’s the goal, right?!).

Tip #1: Who says bridesmaids dresses have to come from a bridal boutique? Explore your favorite local retailer!

With the flagship Nordstrom store just a hop-skip-and-a-jump from my home, I had to start here. For under $200, this strapless ruched Monique Lhuillier dress caught my eye. The ruching amps up this classic silhouette, making it the perfect choice for an evening wedding – and that cocktail party a couple months down the road!

Tip #2: Pleats are on trend

Can’t quite fully embrace a head-to-toe pleated gown? (Me neither – yet at least!) Never fear – baby steps are the key!

This pleated gem was uncovered at the online fashion retailer, asos, for just under $100 and boasts an ever-classic boat-neck collar. The subtle hint of gold in the simple belt dresses this look up just enough to make it the perfect selection for an afternoon affair.

Tip #3: Go bold! Go neutral!

What’s a girl to do? Though The Today Show chose to embrace the ever-bold jewel-toned hues (which I love!), I couldn’t help but rebel and focus my attention on the elegant world of neutrals. This soft-spoken palette of hues allows for such versatility of wear after the wedding day and Target’s ruffle neck shantung dress caught my eye. Not just for its playful neckline, but for the price! Who can beat $70 for this look?!

Tip #4: The skirt – shirt combo

I am drooling over this sequence and lace combination. Your ‘maids are sure to love you because after your big day, the sequin skirt could easily be dressed down by paring it with a simple t-shirt or classic, understated blouse.

Though I can’t find the exact skirt featured in JarvieDigital’s photo, I did find this great silver sequin pencil skirt from Banana Republic for only $98 – can’t beat that!

Julie+Travis Married

Posted by Meaghan Cody

We are so excited to show you images from Julie + Travis’ romantic science themed wedding. Julie and Travis had a lot of ideas when we first met with them. They hired us to help plan their big day but especially to pull together all of their ideas for one cohesive vision. The two met at science camp, so it was only natural for us to design their wedding elements based on a science theme. Our most favorite part of the décor were each of the individualized tables which each represented a different type of science. (ie: oceanography, bio chemistry, biology, etc.) We worked with an amazing team of wedding professionals who pulled this sweet celebration off without a hitch.

We also had a blast coordinating their day after session at the fair where they not only took super fun photos, but they were also able to spend the day eating fried foods and playing games at the State Fair of Texas.

Julie + Travis’ wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty and we are so excited to finally show their wedding off!

Meet Daniel Troupe–Wedding Filmmaker

Posted by Meaghan Cody

Daniel Troupe with Lynn Films is an amazing filmmaker that we get to work with quite often! Today we had a chance to ask Daniel a few questions about himself and his business and we are of course so excited to share with all of our readers! Enjoy!

Daniel Troupe

How did you get started in the Filmmaking business, and specifically with
weddings?
After dropping out of high school and not really knowing what I wanted to do with the
rest of my life, I met a girl. Isn’t that the way it always happens? She encouraged me to go to
college and pursue a passion, which for me has always been movies and telling stories. So
eventually I attended film school at The University of North Texas and started making short
films for school projects and at my church. Around that same time a close friend of mine was
getting married and I offered to film their wedding for free. Once I did that the rest was
history, I immediately feel in love with weddings and wedding films and have never looked
back.

What is your typical day like as a Wedding Filmmaker on the day of the
wedding, and also on a non-wedding day?
A typical wedding day starts with me meeting up with the bride around 8 or 9 a.m.
and I basically stay with her the rest of the day. A normal wedding day for me is 14 to 16
hours long and I love every minute. On days I’m not shooting I’m sitting at my desk editing or
answering emails or cleaning my house

What would you say makes your style or personality unique from other
Filmmakers?
I think of my work as being ‘organic’ in nature. I arrive with no perceived ideas on
how something should look or feel. I am at the truest sense of the words a ‘documentary
filmmaker’. I stay out of the way and film things as naturally as possible. I never manipulate
people or situation to try and get a better shot. It is my passion to film reality as true as
possible.

Favorite tips or advice for the bride and grooms to be?
Ignore the camera. Be yourself. Only do things you really want to do at your wedding.
Don’t do them because you think it’s what you’re supposed to do or because someone
else wants you to. If you throw your bouquet or garter, make sure someone is going to
catch it. No one likes the “lets just let it fall to the ground and laugh about it”

When you aren’t working, what are some of your favorite things to do?
spend as much time with my wife as possible, watch movies, play cards, smoke cigars

What are some of your favorite venues in the DFW area, and why?
That’s a hard one. I really enjoy The Chapel at Chestnut Square in McKinney because
it’s so old and rustic and has a lovely charm. Just don’t put more than 150 people in there. I
also love Union Station in downtown Dallas because it’s so big and has a nice architectural
feel.
