Asking My Bridesmaids

This is my first post to kick off the series I will be sharing called “In Your Shoes – a Wedding Planner’s Journey on Planning Her Own Wedding.” As a Wedding Planner and now a bride-to-be, I am excited to share with you as I’m planning along the way!

It’s been a few months since my fiancé popped the question, and it’s been so fun to start our wedding planning! He did an amazing job during our 6 year anniversary cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway, (although, I think he intentionally proposed when I had no way to start immediately planning – but it didn’t stop me from sending a few text messages to family to share the news and a couple to my boss and photographer to make sure they know and that we want to book our date) and I couldn’t be happier.

Upon our return, we were overwhelmed by the love and support of our friends and family. To me the first thing that I wanted to get moving on was asking my bridesmaids to be part of our special day. The hard thing was that they aren’t all in the same state so I had to get a little creative about choosing something that could ship and something that they would like. I found Sweet E’s Bake Shop in LA to order cookies for my sweet friends in Washington and Minnesota. I had seen a concept of doing a cookie puzzle, which worked well for my friends with a sweet tooth!

I had to get wine labels made and used an Etsy shop and had her customize one of the labels she already had.

My favorite part was going to each of the girls’ house who live in New York and solidifying these 8 girls to be in the bridal party!

The planning is well under way, and I can’t wait to share about our engagement party, save the dates, engagement pictures, how he asked the groomsmen and more!
