We’re Getting Married!

As engagement season officially starts this week, more and more couples will be saying those words. But let’s be honest, as the actual engagement day drifts away and the wedding day draws near, that phrase becomes “I’m having a wedding!”

Yes, you’re having a wedding, but what is more important is that you’re building a marriage. That fact tends to get lost somewhere in between color schemes and seating charts.

And so, some advice:

  • Make time for your fiancé! Often times when I’m putting together to-do lists for my clients, I include “go on a date night” or “go a full weekend without talking about the wedding.” It’s so important to unplug from wedding blogs and floral arrangements from time-to-time and just spend time together to remind yourself why you’re having this wedding in the first place.
  • Include your fiancé in the wedding plans. He may say he doesn’t care, but chances are he does have an opinion. Let him voice it.
  • You’ll be going to a lot of meetings with vendors throughout the planning process. Make mini-date nights out of it. After your meeting go out to dinner or grab a cup of coffee beforehand. It’ll make the journey that much more fun.

So basically, focus on your fiancé and your upcoming marriage. After all, you hired a planner for a reason – let us take that stress and worry away!
