Sweet Pea Events Goes to Austin

Posted by Meaghan Cody

If you haven’t heard yet, last month we expanded Thursday Therapy and introduced it in Austin, TX!  Last month we were able to spend a couple extra days in Austin to visit some really cool venues that the hill country has to offer.  We were excited to meet tons of great wedding pros while we were there and we can’t wait to go back and meet even more in the future.  Thank you so much to Nikki Nuckolls with Doodle Dog for joining us on this fun adventure and for sharing these pictures with us.  Here are some of the venues that we got a chance to visit:

BARR MANSION

Our first destination was Barr Mansion, a rustic escape just on the outskirts of the city.  Behind the mansion is a gorgeous reception hall that has tall ceilings which are supported by tree trunks.  This venue has all organic catering, a beautiful fireplace in the middle of the hall, and a wood burning pizza oven!

PALM DOOR

In the middle of thecity lies this patio getaway.  With outdoor decks that run the entire length of the building, The Palm Door is a hip party venue where urban Austin meets the great outdoors.

TEXAS OLD TOWN

We made our way to Texas Old Town, a stunning stop, located in Kyle, Texas, just south of Austin. This little village has lots of charm that extends throughout the grounds into the dance and reception halls, and into each corridor of entertaining space. The site offers multiple stages and hidden arches, allowing for multiple ceremonies in the multiple outdoor gardens without any distraction.

PALOMA’S NEST

We couldn’t visit Austin without treating ourselves to a stop at Paloma’s Nest! So we met up with Caroline (the creative genius behind Paloma’s Nest) for breakfast and then headed over to her brand new shop.  As Caroline and her husband gave us a tour of their shop we fell even more in love with the priceless hand-made goodies that lined its walls.

VINTAGE VILLAS

Last year we planned a wedding that took place at Vintage Villas, just on the outside of Austin and right on Lake Travis. We couldn’t come all the way to Austin and not visit this beautiful location once again!

ALLAN HOUSE

During our stay in Austin we were invited to an open house at the Allan House. This victorian mansion is located in the heart of Downtown Austin and offers a beautiful outdoor courtyard where both ceremonies and receptions take place.

WINFIELD INN

Again in Kyle, TX lies The Winfield Inn.With ceremonies taking place on the lawn right next to the historical home and receptions in the backyard underneath the pavillion, this is a must see venue in the Austin area.

It was a marathon race of networking and tours for the first trip down to Austin, and we feel like there was so much left to see. So we would love to hear from the Austin natives… tell us the best places to go, best places to eat and what we missed. We’ll be back on a monthly basis from here on out as Sweet Pea Events is expanding and in that direction.
