Introducing: Low Country Quisine

Pictures taken from Low Country Quisine

We absolutely adore Low Country Quisine! LCQ is a new, fun and innovative idea with a unique twist on your traditional catering service, because they are so much more than just a catering service. LCQ offers guest favors, personal chef services, cakes, and other catering needs! LCQ has a storefront in Addison, TX that offers an assortment of sweet treats as well as gourmet takeout. I think that our absolute favorite part about LCQ is the private setting that they offer;  1) A cocktail party with hors d’oeuvres that can host up to 25-30 guests, and 2) A seated 4 or 5 course elegant dinner. These private affairs are PERFECT for proposals (hint, hint Planning For Dudes), rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, etc. And the best part about all of this is they customize the menu for each specific event! We love Low Country Quisine and encourage you to go check this amazing business out!

Meet Our New Dallas Intern, Natalie!

Kelly TX Signature Pic

We are beyond excited to announce our new summer intern in our Dallas office…everyone, please welcome Natalie Chapman! She has been working with us for over a year, assisting us with weddings on the weekends and now we’re thrilled to have her on board for the summer! Natalie attends Texas Tech University where she plans on getting her Bachelors of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management. Through this internship she hopes to further her knowledge in self marketing and get a chance to learn a little bit more about all the planning that goes on behind the scenes.

A little about Natalie –

  • She is an absolute doll and we can’t get enough of her.
  • She loves non-fat lattes (she will fit in perfectly here), reading, candles, church and her family!
  • She loves all the planning that goes into one special night! “Weddings are always so beautiful and reflect the couple’s personality perfectly.” ~ says Natalie.
  • Her favorite part of the entire wedding is seeing the groom’s face when his bride walks down the aisle!
Please join us in officially welcoming Natalie to our Sweet Pea team!

Meet Kate Foley–Wedding Florist

Posted by: meaghan_thumb7_thumb2_thumb1_thumb1

We have had the great opportunity to work with Kate Foley and her company Kate Foley Designs several times over the past couple of years! She is an awesome florist and we absolutely adore her! Kate is also one of the hosts for Thursday Therapy Fort Worth. We had the great pleasure of asking Kate a few questions and we of course wanted to share what she had to say with all of our readers! Please meet Kate Foley!

Kate Foley Designs, Dallas Wedding Planner, DFW Florist

  • How did you get started in the floral business, and specifically with weddings?
  • I studied Interior Design & took floral classes along the way. I was asked to design a friend’s wedding flowers 12 years ago and the rest is history!

  • What is your typical day like as a Wedding Florist on the day of the wedding, and also on a non-wedding day?
  • During the week I am busy with consults, proposals, ordering flowers & the daily office work. Starbucks & shopping for wedding props/supplies/containers find their way into each week too!

On a wedding day, I am always up early finishing up last minute details to keep the flowers fresh. It is a fast paced day with finishing touches & delivering flowers. Favorite moment is handing the bride her bouquet ~ the smile on her face makes it all worthwhile! I love the reception set up! Seeing it all come together after months of planning is very rewarding!

  • What would you say makes your style or personality unique from other Florists?
  • Although my style is to use a lot of texture for lush designs, I like to mix it up by working with the bride to bring HER vision to life.

My unique selling point is that I only take one wedding a day ~ so when a bride books KFD, the day is hers! I like to not only give the personal service she deserves, but also the peace of mind that the designer she met with will also design & deliver her flowers! I also have a large selection of vases & props for the bride to incorporate into her wedding to complete the design.

  • Favorite tips or advice for the bride and grooms to be?
  • For flowers, create an overall look & feel for what you want for the wedding, let us handle the details! Pictures are the best tool for you to communicate your vision….Pinterest!!

  • When you aren’t working, what are some of your favorite things to do?
  • I love having time to relax with my family ~ husband, 3 yr old daughter & 2 dogs! Traveling, shopping, baking, pedicure, a nice jog, a new restaurant, time with good friends & Starbucks are few of my favorite things!

  • What are some of your favorite venues in the DFW area, and why?
  • I love outdoor weddings, so backyard weddings are a favorite!

The Modern Art Museum is a new favorite for the blank canvas & open feel. I also love 809 @ Vickery for it’s rustic, industrial feel.

Then there is the Robert Carr Chapel for the classic, traditional wedding! Shall I go on???

Pin Up The New Year–NYE Party

Posted by Meaghan Cody

Not only do we plan fabulous weddings, but we like to plan social events as well. We were contacted last year to help coordinate a 1940’s themed New Year’s Eve party! We were super excited to help bring this party to life. We started off by creating an inspiration board and then brought in some amazing vendors including a jazz band to complete this party!

Meet Sara and Rocky Garza–Dallas Wedding Photographer

Posted by Meaghan Cody

We are so excited to be working with this talented couple in a few weeks and just wanted to share a little about them on our blog today! Please meet Sara and Rocky Garza of Sara and Rocky Photography!

Dallas Wedding Photography, Dallas Wedding Planner, Sara and Rocky Photography

  • How did you get started in the Photography business, and specifically with weddings?

Sara got her first camera when she graduated from college in 2008 and we started taking photos together just as a hobby. We thought we were SO good at first, (we were awful) but we found that we really enjoyed doing it together. After about a year and a half of taking as many photos as we could, Sara resigned from her job as an architect and went full-time as a photographer. Once she was full-time, we decided that we wanted to try our hand at wedding photography. We shot our first wedding in March of 2010 and fell in love with it. The more we shot the more we realized that this is exactly the type of photography we wanted to be doing. Rocky resigned from his job as a pastor in February of 2011 and now we both shoot full-time exclusively as wedding photographers!

  • What is your typical day like as a Wedding Photographer on the day of the wedding, and also on a non-wedding day?

Wedding days start like any other day for us. We have coffee, take our dog Samson out Rocky makes breakfast. Then we get our gear ready and head out the door. Once we arrive, Sara heads off with the ladies and Rocky goes with the guys and we start shooting. We shoot all day long (usually 8 hours) and love every minute of it! Especially the cake! As for a non-wedding day, we have the same routine as above. Coffee, Samson and breakfast. Then the majority of the day is spent editing images, emailing and taking Samson to play a little fetch. We try to squeeze a run in here and there and usually at the end of day by having dinner with clients or just some friends!

  • What would you say makes your style or personality unique from other Photographers?

We are both very relational people. We love to get to know our clients personally and we have every one of our bride and grooms over to our home for dinner, (that we cook), before the wedding day. We really want to take authentic and emotional images and feel that the best way for us to do that is to make a real investment in our clients. Our business is personal to us and we love it that way!

  • What are some of your favorite images from your portfolio?

Dallas Wedding Planner, Dallas Wedding Planners, Sara and Rocky Photography Dallas Wedding Planner, Dallas Wedding Planners, Sweet Pea Events, Sara and Rocky PhotographyDallas Wedding Planner, Dallas Wedding Planners, Dallas Wedding Photographer, Sara and Rocky PhotographyDallas Wedding Planner, Dallas Wedding Planners, Sara and Rocky Photography, Dallas Wedding Photographer

  • Favorite tips or advice for the bride and grooms to be?

1. Remember why you are getting married; it is not to have pretty flowers, crazy details or out do all your other friends, it is about committing to each other in the company of your dearest friends and family that you love each other, forever.

2. HAVE FUN!

  • When you aren’t working, what are some of your favorite things to do?

We love to travel. We want to go to every continent! Sara loves to read and Rocky loves to do anything but read! We love playing with our dog Samson and we are both active so running and biking are on the top of the list too! We are self-proclaimed foodies, so great dinner with friends happens quite often and we will never turn down a glass of red wine (Sara) or scotch (Rocky).

  • What are some of your favorite venues in the DFW area, and why?

If it is outdoor we love it! Sunshine is our best friend, so any venue that has lots of window or is outside is perfect!
